Solutions and ideas to keep the New Congress from drinking the kool-aid that sends most in Congress on a wild spending spree each and every year avoiding the real work in getting the nations financial house in order, so that all may share in the blessings rather than the few that don't want to work for themselves.

DC’s “Ten Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians” for 2007
We all know that Government is the problem, now it seems our leaders not only are a problem but corrupt as well.
Now if we could stop electing the same corrupt politicians, and elect politicians that would honor God by obeying the authority and king of our land, the Constitution.

The Republican Party has Lost its Way
By Vincent Gioia | Right Side News
If the Republican Party has lost its way, how can voters be expected to follow them?
California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is the latest politician masquerading as a Republican to call for the party to change its ways and adopt Democrat policies to win elections. Some years ago Arnold said the Republican Party was in danger of "dying at the box office" if it failed to appeal to a wider group of voters.
After successfully toppling former Democrat governor Gray Davis in a rare recall election, Arnold showed the way by becoming indistinguishable from the opposition party. Californians thought they were voting for a Republican but they merely replaced one tax and spend politician with another.

MCCAIN JOINS GLOBAL WARMING CULT
By Cal Thomas
In an effort to win over those “moderates” who believe that global warming is about to destroy the planet, Republican presidential candidate John McCain spoke Monday at a Portland, Ore., training facility for Vestas Wind Technology. He claimed, “The facts of global warming demand our urgent attention, especially in Washington.”
There certainly is more “hot air” on this and a lot of other subjects in Washington, but that isn’t what he meant. The era of big government is so not over, as Bill Clinton claimed it was in 1996.

Our Military Need Real Support, Not Empty Rhetoric
By Chuck Baldwin | Constitution Party Presidential Nominee
As we approach Memorial Day, we can anticipate the usual speeches and photo stunts from various and sundry politicos, each of them touting their heartfelt "support" for America's men and women in uniform. I submit that much of this political grandstanding is merely empty rhetoric.
Most of us probably recall that former Secretary of State Henry
Kissinger is quoted as having said that soldiers are just "dumb,
stupid animals to be used" as pawns by the political and commercial
elite. Obviously, even the most anti-military Democrat would never be so brazen as to say what Kissinger said.

Dangerous Democracy
By Perry Willis | DownsizeDC.org
President Bush probably meant to do good by bringing democracy to Iraq, but it's hard to succeed when you're aiming at the wrong thing.
The President has always assumed that democracy is what made America good and great. He thinks it could do the same for Iraq, and many others agree. But is it true?

The Economy: Another Casualty of War

By Ron Paul | Republican Candidate for President
This week, as the American economy continued to suffer the effects of big government, the House attempted to pass two multibillion dollar "emergency" spending bills, one for continued spending on the war in Iraq , and one increasing spending on domestic and international welfare programs. The plan was to pass these two bills and then send them to the president as one package. Even though the House failed to pass the war spending bill, opponents of the war should not be fooled into believing this vote signals a long term change in policy.

GOP Leaders Warn of Election Disaster
Shellshocked House Republicans got warnings from leaders past and present Tuesday: Your party’s message isn’t good enough to prevent disaster in November, and neither is the NRCC’s money. The Republican brand has been so badly damaged that if Republicans try to run an anti-Obama or anti-Rev. Wright campaign, they are simply going to fail.

Congress looking at steel pennies and nickels
AP | Washington
Further evidence that times are tough: It now costs more than a penny to make a penny. And the cost of a nickel is more than 7½ cents.
Surging prices for copper, zinc and nickel have some in Congress trying to bring back the steel-made pennies of World War II, and maybe using steel for nickels, as well.

Ron Paul Sees Bailout Writing on the Wall
"They cannot have all these bailouts—whether it's bailing out homeowners, or mortgage companies, or banks. If they do it by just the creation of new credit, eventually they destroy the dollar. So I think we are going to face something much greater than the crisis we faced in 1979 and 1980, when we needed 21 percent interest rates in order to rescue the dollar. I think conditions are much worse [today]."

Taxation Again
By Tibor R. Machan - Co-Founder, Reason Magazine
Instead of all the mud slinging between Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Hussein Obama, wouldn’t it be refreshing to have them engage in some serious political discussion? Since April 15 is nearly upon us, many American citizens might appreciate some in-depth exploration of the nature of taxation. The federal income tax, in particular, would deserve thoughtful examination. Senator John McCain could also enter the fray, me thinks.

On Money, Inflation and Government
by Ron Paul
These past few weeks have provided an unfortunate opportunity to discuss inflation. The dollar index has reached new all-time lows. The total money supply, M3, as calculated by private sources, is growing at a disturbing 17% rate. The Fed is pumping dollars into the economy at an alarming rate. Just recently the Fed announced new loan auctions totaling $100 billion. That is new money created from thin air. If these money auctions, combined with the bailout of Bear Stearns, continue to be the trend, we are in for some economic stormy weather. The explanation lies in understanding the basics of money, and why it is dangerous to give government and big banks control over it.
First, money is not wealth, in and of itself. You cannot create more wealth simply by creating more money. Wall Street bankers cry out for more liquidity, but what is really needed is more value behind the dollar. But the value, unfortunately, isn't there.

Two McCain Moments, Rarely Mentioned
What Mr. McCain almost never mentions are two extraordinary moments in his political past that are at odds with the candidate of the present: His discussions in 2001 with Democrats about leaving the Republican Party, and his conversations in 2004 with Senator John Kerry about becoming Mr. Kerry’s running mate on the Democratic presidential ticket.
