Antidote for Potomac Poison

Solutions and ideas to keep the New Congress from drinking the kool-aid that sends most in Congress on a wild spending spree each and every year avoiding the real work in getting the nations financial house in order, so that all may share in the blessings rather than the few that don't want to work for themselves.

The Republican Party has Lost its Way

By Vincent Gioia | Right Side News

If the Republican Party has lost its way, how can voters be expected to follow them?
California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is the latest politician masquerading as a Republican to call for the party to change its ways and adopt Democrat policies to win elections. Some years ago Arnold said the Republican Party was in danger of "dying at the box office" if it failed to appeal to a wider group of voters.

After successfully toppling former Democrat governor Gray Davis in a rare recall election, Arnold showed the way by becoming indistinguishable from the opposition party. Californians thought they were voting for a Republican but they merely replaced one tax and spend politician with another.

MCCAIN JOINS GLOBAL WARMING CULT

By Cal Thomas

In an effort to win over those “moderates” who believe that global warming is about to destroy the planet, Republican presidential candidate John McCain spoke Monday at a Portland, Ore., training facility for Vestas Wind Technology. He claimed, “The facts of global warming demand our urgent attention, especially in Washington.”

There certainly is more “hot air” on this and a lot of other subjects in Washington, but that isn’t what he meant. The era of big government is so not over, as Bill Clinton claimed it was in 1996.

Our Military Need Real Support, Not Empty Rhetoric

By Chuck Baldwin | Constitution Party Presidential Nominee
As we approach Memorial Day, we can anticipate the usual speeches and photo stunts from various and sundry politicos, each of them touting their heartfelt "support" for America's men and women in uniform. I submit that much of this political grandstanding is merely empty rhetoric.

Most of us probably recall that former Secretary of State Henry
Kissinger is quoted as having said that soldiers are just "dumb,
stupid animals to be used" as pawns by the political and commercial
elite. Obviously, even the most anti-military Democrat would never be so brazen as to say what Kissinger said.

McCain Rebuffs Dobson: Will Evangelicals Bolt?

By: Phil Brennan

Sen. John McCain's campaign has so far turned a deaf ear to invitations to meet with politically powerful evangelical leader Dr. James Dobson at his Focus on the Family headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colo., raising the possibility that the nation's sizable evangelical bloc will sit out the presidential race in November.

The move would all but assure the election of Sen. Barack Obama, columnist Robert Novak argues in a recent column.

Noting that Dobson has indicated he can't support McCain for president, Novak writes that Dobson's opposition to McCain "reflects continued resistance to the prospective presidential nominee among Christian conservatives who are unhappy with McCain's current positions on stem-cell research, immigration and global warming, not to mention his past sponsorship of campaign-finance reform."

McCain Courts Leftwing Bloggers

By Newsmax Staff | 5-19-08

Republican John McCain's campaign has begun holding regular conference calls with leftwing bloggers and blogs that focus on single issues such as healthcare and the environment.

On May 15, McCain held a conference call with bloggers including Greg Sargent of TPM Election Central, Kate Sheppard, a political reporter for the environmental Web site Grist.org, and Erin Kotecki, who blogs at BlogHer.com and The Huffington Post, according to Wired.com.

Clinton's records vanished after warning of 'very serious' problems

By Jerry Seper | Washington Times | 5-12-08

Hillary Rodham Clinton's Rose Law Firm billing records, found in the White House residence in January 1996 two years after they had been subpoenaed by government regulators, disappeared shortly after the first lady was warned that the firm's billing problems were "very serious" and the then-ongoing Whitewater investigation could result in criminal charges, newly obtained records show.

The Economy: Another Casualty of War

By Ron Paul | Republican Candidate for President

This week, as the American economy continued to suffer the effects of big government, the House attempted to pass two multibillion dollar "emergency" spending bills, one for continued spending on the war in Iraq , and one increasing spending on domestic and international welfare programs. The plan was to pass these two bills and then send them to the president as one package. Even though the House failed to pass the war spending bill, opponents of the war should not be fooled into believing this vote signals a long term change in policy.

Three Peas in a Pod

By Chuck Baldwin, | Constitution Party Candidate for President of the US.

"I realize that is extremely difficult for some people to think outside the box. The vast majority of people are prone to be followers, to "go with the flow," to follow the path of least resistance. This appears to be the nature of human nature.

Therefore, I think I understand the reasoning of many who are so reluctant to step outside the two major parties and vote for a third party candidate. I seem to recall that I, too, was just as hesitant (though not for nearly as long as some people) as they are.

We have all heard it before: He doesn't stand a chance; it's a wasted vote; we must work within the party to make it better, etc., ad infinitum, ad nauseam.

Now, I will be the first to admit that the deck is stacked against an independent candidate succeeding at any political level. The two dominant parties do not like competition. And they have made it EXTREMELY DIFFICULT for third parties to have a fighting chance to prevail."

If I Were President

By Chuck Baldwin - Presidential Nominee for the Constitution Party

" speaking of illegal immigration, as President, I would enforce our visa rules. This means anyone who overstays their visa or otherwise violates U.S. law is immediately deported. There would be no "path to citizenship" given to any illegal alien. That means no amnesty. Not in any shape, manner, or form. "

FLDS custody case: Month after ranch raid, polygamous dad speaks out

By Brooke Adams | The Salt Lake Tribune
ELDORADO, Texas - As Richard Barlow walked eight of his children to a bus that would take them away from the YFZ Ranch, he gave each one advice.
"I spoke very freely. I said, 'Let us be at peace,' " he said.
And: "Be strong."
That was a month ago. Today his children are scattered from one end of Texas to the other and he and his wife, Susan, are desperate to see them.

The McCain dilemma: a split personality on his wars

Standing up to terrorists, but not Democrat intimidation
By Wes Vernon

Senator John McCain — the presumptive Republican presidential nominee — remains an enigma. He stands up to those who want us to soft-pedal the source of the terrorist threat. But he caves to Democrats when they express the slightest displeasure. Go figure.

Ron Paul's supporters hope to reshape the GOP

By Craig Westover | MinnPost.com

Among rank and file conservative GOPers, there is a begrudging respect for the Paulites' quixotic quest to drag the Republican Party kicking and screaming back to its Goldwater/Reagan principles.

"We're telling our fellow Republicans that it's OK to defend the Constitution," said Minnesota state coordinator for Ron Paul, Marianne Stebbins. "We're telling them it's OK to speak up against amnesty [for illegal immigrants]. We're even acknowledging that nation building might not be the best idea and that we should stick to defense, particularly that of our borders."

Ron Paul Is Right on Peace, Liberty and Ending the U.S. Empire

On the war, Rep. Paul voted, in Oct., 2002, against the U.S. Congress delegating the power to use military force against Iraq to President George W. Bush. He said that, as soon as the Bush-Cheney Gang took office in Jan., 2001, "and that was long before 9/11," they were looking to bring about "regime change" in Iraq. He also believes that the "Israeli government and the Neocons want the U.S. to attack Iran."

Ron Paul Sees Bailout Writing on the Wall

"They cannot have all these bailouts—whether it's bailing out homeowners, or mortgage companies, or banks. If they do it by just the creation of new credit, eventually they destroy the dollar. So I think we are going to face something much greater than the crisis we faced in 1979 and 1980, when we needed 21 percent interest rates in order to rescue the dollar. I think conditions are much worse [today]."

John McCain is No Hero

I have never in my long life seen propaganda as blatant and untrue as the ceaseless barrage of lies proclaiming John McCain as a hero. Nothing could be farther from the truth. As McCain emerged as a candidate, ABC made-a-for-TV movie portraying him as a hero who endured torture and prevailed. About the only thing in that movie that was the truth is that they got his name right. While a POW, his propaganda broadcasts were frequently heard on Radio Hanoi. By his own admission, when he was pulled from the lake in downtown Hanoi, badly hurt, the first thing he did was to identify himself as the son of Admiral McCain,...

Taxation Again

By Tibor R. Machan - Co-Founder, Reason Magazine

Instead of all the mud slinging between Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Hussein Obama, wouldn’t it be refreshing to have them engage in some serious political discussion? Since April 15 is nearly upon us, many American citizens might appreciate some in-depth exploration of the nature of taxation. The federal income tax, in particular, would deserve thoughtful examination. Senator John McCain could also enter the fray, me thinks.
