In an effort to win over those “moderates” who believe that global warming is about to destroy the planet, Republican presidential candidate John McCain spoke Monday at a Portland, Ore., training facility for Vestas Wind Technology. He claimed, “The facts of global warming demand our urgent attention, especially in Washington.”

There certainly is more “hot air” on this and a lot of other subjects in Washington, but that isn’t what he meant. The era of big government is so not over, as Bill Clinton claimed it was in 1996.

McCain Rebuffs Dobson: Will Evangelicals Bolt?

Sen. John McCain's campaign has so far turned a deaf ear to invitations to meet with politically powerful evangelical leader Dr. James Dobson at his Focus on the Family headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colo., raising the possibility that the nation's sizable evangelical bloc will sit out the presidential race in November.

The move would all but assure the election of Sen. Barack Obama, columnist Robert Novak argues in a recent column.

Noting that Dobson has indicated he can't support McCain for president, Novak writes that Dobson's opposition to McCain "reflects continued resistance to the prospective presidential nominee among Christian conservatives who are unhappy with McCain's current positions on stem-cell research, immigration and global warming, not to mention his past sponsorship of campaign-finance reform."

Today's Christian Leadership needs revival

I hate to chide supposedly one of our own, but Pat Robertson's kooky politics is enough to call him out on his hypocracies.
He runs a segiment on how some gay millionaire is funding state politics around the nation, yet Pat was the one who came out for homosexual supporting presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani, at a time when there were still 8 candidates closer to the values we share as Christians, at Pat's endorsement of Rudy.
At the end of the segiment Pat explains no one in the Christian community is combatting this activist.

Hey Pat,... It doesn't help our cause when the Christian Leadership in America (that's you Pat) supports the most liberal gay and abortion supporting Republican right off the bat, and you wonder where Christians are on this subject. We were kind of puzzled where you stood then.

With Christian leaders like yourself being wishy washy on certain issues why would the majority of "freed-thinking" Christians follow leaders so confused.
